Your wedding dress... again...

I had a beautiful bride a few months ago with the most beautiful dress. She looked stunning in it... as long as she was just standing still. What happened was the moment she started to move, she was pulling at it, tugging, carrying, pulling up the front etc.....   The dress fit her perfectly, but it wasn't "Real world friendly"  Even on the dance floor you could tell she had so many issues just moving a little.
This bothered me so much I couldn't stop thinking, "Didn't she walk around when she tried the dress on?"

So here are some tips for you, that I hope will help.
1. When you find "The dress" don't just stand there in it. At the boutique, walk around in it for a good 15-20 minutes.
2.Try a few dance moves. (Seriously) you make look silly, but thats ok.  Have someone with you who can act as your dance partner.
3. Wear the dress for a while in both heels and flats (Many people change at some point into the night)
4. Squeeze through tight places. You may be walking around to tables squeezing in between seats.

Do all these things for a good amount of time before you make your decision. On your wedding day you will certainly not be standing on a pedestal in front of a mirror. You will be constantly moving.

Will my dress get dirty?

Even though this idea has been in the works for about 3 years. We're starting off slow and easy. We will be addressing an email we received recently along with the following...

Your dress girls!

You're getting married in a beautiful setting in the country. A gorgeous barn decorated with vintage chandeliers.

The field next to the barn is lush with trees and the most perfect location for pictures. (That is why you chose this location)

Its time for pictures annnnnnnnnd........... You don't want to get your dress dirty. Or your mom doesn't want you to get your dress dirty.  So you try and convince me to shoot your pictures from the lovely parking lot.

Stop this now!  A little dirt on the underside of your dress...
A. Wont kill you
B. Will not be noticed by anyone

We really are sick of losing valuable time while 5 bridesmaids with 10 shout wipes, a steamer and the dry cleaner on hold are frantically trying to make a spot the size of a pinhead disappear.

This and every other post will end with these words. Enjoy your day!
Spin around in the field, show your happiness. Take advantage of the fact that you had a full makeup and hair team, a professional photographer and the license to actually ham it up a bit. Today you're allowed.

We really need you to stop freaking out about something that just does not matter at all. Trust me. I've shot about 500 weddings and 500 of those brides got their dresses dirty. It happens. Its fine. If this is something that will drive you crazy, consider jeans, a short dress, hey, why not wear an apron throughout the day or a HASMAT suit. I'm hoping my future brides read this and relax. I hope you will too.
